2009 TAPHCC SCHOLARSHIP

The Tennessee Association of Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors, Inc. has established an annual Scholarship Award to honor and further the education of worthy students as selected by its Scholarship Committee.  This Scholarship Award,  known as the Tennessee Association of Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors Scholarship Award, varies from a minimum of $1,000 per year to a maximum of $2,000 per year.

In order to be eligible for this scholarship award, the applicant must be either (a) the child or grandchild of a contractor or industry council member, who has been a member in good standing of the Tennessee Association of Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors for a minimum of one (1) year preceding the application date, or a child or grandchild of a deceased member who met such membership requirement; or, (b) the child or grandchild of an employee who has been employed for a minimum of one (1) year by a contractor who is a member of the Tennessee Association of Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors. Applicants must be sponsored by the member contractor.

To qualify for this Award, the applicant must be: (a) A graduate or a candidate for graduation within six (6) months of a high school in the public school system of Tennessee, or a graduate or a candidate for graduation within six (6) months of a recognized private or denominational school at the high school level; or (b) have successfully completed GED equivalency; or (c) a student in good standing already enrolled in a college, university or trade school.  The applicant must be a student of good standing and must have maintained a scholastic average of C or better for the previous two (2) years of academic course of study preceding the date of application.

Preference will be given to students planning to pursue a degree in engineering or business or intend to enroll in a program specific to the plumbing or HVAC trade.  Payments of the scholarship award shall be made directly to the college, university or trade school of the recipient's choice at the beginning of his/her first semester/quarter of study. The funds will not be payable if student does not enroll. Applicants must make application each year for eligibility.
